Charter Communications Wage and Hour Litigation Update

On Thursday, July 17, 2020, employment lawyer Jean-Claude Lapuyade, Esq., of the JCL Law Firm, APC, obtained an order coordinating four separate wage and hour actions against Charter Communications, LLC before the San Diego Superior Court. The actions entitled Marcelino v. Charter Communications, LLC, San Diego County Superior Court, Case No. 37-2019-00016478-CU-OE-CTL; Paredes v. Charter Communications, LLC,Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. 19STCV11536; Trejo v Charter Communications, LLC, Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. 19STCV28173; and Sonico v. Charter Communications, LLC, San Diego Superior Court, Case No. 37-2019-00055875-CU-OE-CTL, all seek to recover unpaid wages, penalties, interest fees and costs from Charter on behalf of more than 10,000 current and former Charter employees. Generally, the lawsuits allege that Charter failed to correctly pay overtime compensation to its non-exempt California employees. The lawsuits also allege that Charter failed to provide legally compliant meal and rest periods to its non-exempt employees. The coordination order is an important victory for Charter’s current and former non-exempt employees and another defeat to Charter in this litigation.
