In February, a federal jury awarded a group of Steak ‘n Shake managers more than $3 million in back overtime. The Steak ‘n Shake managers brought Federal and state wage and hour claims, alleging they were misclassified as exempt from overtime pay. The Steak n’ Shake managers claimed that they routinely worked more than 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week without any overtime compensation. The Steak n’ Shake managers also claimed they were not provided their missed meal and rest period.  If you work at a California Steak n’ Shake you could be owed money for unpaid overtime and, missed meal and rest period.
